Update the FAQ page with this: Auto Insurance – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Third Party Auto Insurance covers you against legal liability for injury, death, or property damage caused to another person (the “third party”) due to an accident involving your insured vehicle. It does not cover damages to your own vehicle.
A third party is anyone other than the policyholder or insurer who suffers injury or property damage due to the insured vehicle. This includes:
Other drivers
Pedestrians
Cyclists
Property owners
You can claim up to ₦5,000,000 for:
Third party injuries or death
Damage to third party property
Note: An excess of ₦15,000 or 10% (for private vehicles) or ₦30,000 or 10% (for commercial vehicles) is deducted per claim — whichever is higher.
Ensure everyone's safety and seek medical help if needed.
Take clear photos of the accident and the vehicles involved.
Get a police report at the scene or from the station (must indicate who’s at fault).
Collect the third party’s insurance certificate and valid ID.
Report the incident to your insurer within 30 days.
If immediate action is required (e.g. towing, treatment), keep evidence of all actions and expenses.
You’ll need:
Completed claim form
Third party KYC form
Repair estimate
Photos of damage at the accident scene
Police report
Third party insurance certificate
Third party valid ID
You can submit your claim directly through your user dashboard or by contacting the claims support team as listed in your policy documents.
Depending on the nature of the incident and how complete your documentation is, claims are typically processed within 7 to 15 working days after submission.
Approved claims will be paid into the bank account provided by you during the claim process. Make sure the details are accurate and match your ID.
In non-critical situations, avoid repairing or settling without informing your insurer first, as this may void your claim. In urgent cases, act responsibly but document everything (photos, receipts, reports) and notify your insurer immediately.
Your claim is still valid. Your insurer will cover the third party’s damage or injury (up to your policy limit) even if they don’t have insurance.
The police report will determine fault. If the third party is liable, their insurer should handle your compensation. If they are uninsured, legal recovery may be required.
Yes — as long as the person:
Has your permission
Holds a valid driver’s license
Is not disqualified from driving
It’s the portion of the claim you must pay before the insurer covers the rest. It’s ₦15,000 or 10% for private cars and ₦30,000 or 10% for commercial vehicles — whichever is greater.
Your insurer will pay the market value of the vehicle up to the ₦5,000,000 limit, minus the excess.
Log into your dashboard to monitor your claim progress, get updates, and upload any additional documents requested.
